Bing Confirms Spam Penalties Are Algorithm-Based and Systematic, Not Individual Takedowns

Per SERoundtable, Krishna Madhavan, Principal Product Manager at Microsoft Bing, said the search engine does not penalize individual sites in isolation. Instead, Bing builds algorithms to detect specific spam patterns and applies those algorithms across its entire index to find and penalize all sites engaged in that behavior at scale. The clarification followed reports from Glenn Gabe and Lily Ray of a spammy site that ranked well in Bing being deindexed, prompting questions about Bing's enforcement approach.
