Optimixed Overview

Optimixed's original report on this story.

Zyppy conducted a survey of 131 SEO professionals rating 103 potential ranking factors on a seven-point scale, finding that relevance and search intent match ranked highest, followed by backlinks at 54.8% of respondents naming them among the top three signals, and content quality third. Respondents emphasized that backlinks from trusted, topically relevant domains with real visitors carry the most weight, while spammy links serve as strong negative signals; original research and first-party data within content quality received high marks, and AI-generated content rated favorably only when substantially reviewed by humans and adding unique value. Technical SEO fundamentals—crawling, indexing, and site health—remained consistently rated as foundational, internal linking scored highly, and brand and user signals like branded search volume and user satisfaction received top ratings, while meta descriptions ranked near the bottom as having little direct ranking effect.
