Product Manager Built Self-Improving Claude System That Handles Majority of Workday

Lenny's Newsletter interviewed Daniel Blum, a PM at Melio, about his self-improving Claude assistant that now handles 70–80% of his workday. Blum's system uses Claude and Cowork to manage his Notion board, scan Slack and email, prepare weekly briefs, and learn from his edits without explicit feedback. He emphasized that architecture matters more than tool choice, built recurring context updates to keep Claude informed of company changes, and created a weekly improvement loop that compares Claude's drafts to his final versions to refine future outputs. Blum also developed a 15-minute onboarding flow to personalize the system for other Melio employees, though he notes the biggest remaining limitation is persistence—Claude still cannot reliably continue working autonomously when his computer is off.
